BIRTHDAY CAPSULE

At the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, I worked with Brandon Kleinman on creating Zodiac sign illustrations as cute animals to be used as avatars for his newly founded Birthday Capsule app. The app's goal of making birthday party planning, gift buying, and celebrating easy during a time when in-person contact wasn't possible resonated with me because my close group of friends held virtual birthday parties for about a year.

I experimented with character styles before landing on a look that I then applied to all 13 Zodiac signs along with additional animals. I even sneaked in a couple basketball references. After the illustrations were approved, I brought them to life by giving them some subtle animation.
